ADVAN
MEMBRANE

Advan Membrane develops various technologies to help solve the world’s most complex challenges related to water availability and quality, such as wastewater reuse and resources.

After more than 20 years of innovation in membrane materials and technologies, Advan Membrane has developed microfiltration (MF), ultrafiltration (UF)and many more products for municipal and industrial applications.

Advan Membrane can be traced back to 2001,at AdvanSix, a company listed on the NYSE. The predecessor of Advan Memberane was one of its polymer derivatives research and development departments. The head of this department is Dr. R. Wilson from Australia, whose main research direction is the study of properties modification of polymer materials under different additives.

Dr. R. Wilson has been engaged in material research and development for more than 30 years and has won more than a dozen international patents. One of the research results is that membrane materials made of polymers such as PVC, PTFE, PVDF, and PES can be modified by patented technology to ensure uniform pore size distribution and obtain near-permanent hydrophilicity. This achievement is suitable for the development of water treatment membrane technology, since this is a non-majority stream business of AdvanSix, this result has always been taken as reserve technologies and not yet been commercialized.

In August 2009, with the support of Mr. P. Huck, a friend from his hometown and one of the board members of AdvanSix at the time, Dr. R. Wilson and his R&D team left the United States and returned to Australia with this technology to continue to concentrate on his research and the commercialization of this technology.  Dr. R, Wilson also starts to cooperate with scientific research institutions such as the UNESCO Membrane Research Center.

On June 13, 2011, the first batch of PVDF-based membrane materials with a total area of 5,000 square meters was successfully rolled off the production line, marking the successful commercialization of this technology. Dr. R. Wilson branded the product with Advan Membrane in honor of AdvanSix's strong support in the early stages of the technology's development.
